A while back I had gone to a party where my cousin sister had made some amazing dessert which I had deeply enjoyed. I had asked her where she had learnt how to make this, and she responded that she had tried this in Mexico. I had recently made this at home, and it turned out to be very easy. I hope you all try it and enjoy eating it.
Ingredients
- 4 Cups All-Purpose Flour
- 2 tsp Baking Powder
- 1 tsp Kosher Salt
- 4 Tbsp Vegetable Shortening
- 1 1/2 Cups Warm Water
- 1 Quart Canola Oil, for frying
Instructions
- In a large bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, salt, and vegetable shortening. Slowly stir in water and mix until dough is smooth. Cover and let stand for 20 minutes.
- Heat oil in a deep frying pan to 375 degrees. Roll out dough on a floured surface until 1/8-1/4 inch thick. Cut into 3-inch squares, then fry in batches until puffy and golden brown on both sides, around 4 minutes per batch. Drain on paper towels and serve warm with honey.
